A lot of three Balinese figural keris hilts
19th/early 20th century

Comprising: 1) Finely carved ebony figure of raksasha, it's raiment of 17 karat sheet gold chased with scrollwork, beading and repeating patterns and set with numerous ruby and other cabochons, it's scrolling coif highlighted with gold wire. 2) Gilt brass hilt in the form of a seated deity with elaborate coif and holding a fan, the whole finely detailed and set with colored cabochons. 3) A similar figure, also in brass but not as finely detailed.
Condition: 1) Fine condition, missing one gold mounting on top of head. 2) Fine, some traces of gilt finish remaining. 3) Very good.

Note: By family history, these three hilts were collected in 1936-7 in Nanking, China by U.S. Marine Austin Smith, who gave the hilts to the consignor's father in 1980's.
