A Victorian Pattern 1831 mameluke-hilted general officer's saber

Curved 30 inch blade with 10 inch false edge and 19 inch panel etched and engraved with scrollwork, one side with crown and general officer's insignia, a crossed sword and baton; the other with crown and royal cipher with maker's marking W. Buckmaster & Co./New Burlington St./London above the ricasso. Gilt brass guard molded with foliage and insignia. Elephant ivory grip scales. Brass two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade showing sharp decoration and scattered patches of spotting. Hilt retains most of the gilt finish. One gripscale with hairline crack. Scabbard with dark patina and one deep dent at the drag.
