A continental infantry officer's sword
late 18th/early 19th century
late 18th/early 19th century
Unmarked 31 inch single edged blade with broad, full-length fuller. Brass hilt comprising large bilobate guard, the exterior molded with scrollwork/foliage as is the quillon terminal, simple knucklebow, faceted vasi-form pommel with integral ferrule and large button. Grip wrapped in heavy plaited brass wire.
Condition: Blade showing scattered light pitting and minor nicks to edge. Hilt showing light marks and repair to quillon.
