An English silver-hilted small sword
third quarter 18th century

Straight, unmarked 32 inch blade of hollow triangular section. Silver hilt comprising bilobate guard struck with London hallmarks around the base of the blade with date letter for 1761, the raised scrolling borders with central fluted panels; fluted quillon block, rings and quillon; knucklebow with central lobed and fluted panel; spirally fluted ovoid pommel. Grip wrapped in plaited silver wire.
Condition: Blade showing smooth, mottled patina with some dents. Hilt fine.
