An early Scottish Highland dirk
first half 18th century
first half 18th century
Straight 14 3/4 inch single edged blade, the 6 1/2 and 2 inch fullers below the spine enclosed by a punched design of circles and sickle-shaped marks. Brass bolsters. Bog oak grip carved with interlace. Flat brass pommel cap incised with double line border, the lower edged cusped to enclose the top of the grip. Tang secured by a star-shaped iron nut.
Condition: Blade with scattered light pitting and marks and some wear to decoration. Grip showing wear and scattered marks.
