A Nuremburg black and white burgonet
second quarter 17th century

One-piece skull, the tall, slightly roped comb flanked by broad sunken bands. Pointed peak with roped rim, the broad gutter bearing the Nuremburg shield. Hinged cheekpieces pierced with five small, circular holes, the lower edges roped and guttered as the peak. Single lame neck defense.
Condition: Grey metal showing areas of light pitting. Neck defense a restoration.
