Footnotes
The Bovet family of Fleurier are perhaps the best known 19th century makers of watches destined for export to China. The partnership among the brothers Edouard, Fréderic, Alphonse and Gustave Bovet was founded in 1822, specifically for trade through the port of Canton. The family remained in control of the company until it was sold in the 1860's.
