Footnotes
According to a letter from Gino Cenedese to Frank Vanderlip, Jr., dated March 31, 1958, the design for this particular Aquarium block was inspired by a sketch by Pablo Picasso that Licata had seen during a visit to the Prado Museum in Madrid. He was so taken by the abstract work that he decided to reinterpret aspects of it in the medium of glass.
