ibeji, from the Egbado town of Ibara-oko, purportedly by the master carver, Eshubiyi from the Abeokuta region, circa 1905, each with sagital-crested coiffeur, finely incised and detailed, the ears with well-worn apertures, now empty, faces with alert expression staring forward, the arms carved freely at the sides terminate in large hands with exaggerated openings between thumb and palm, the skirts with two vertical rows of incised designs are carved with great attention to detail, especially in the knotting at the back of the statues, each with large feet with rectangular toes and deeply carved nails resting on the lozenge-shaped bases; smooth, well-worn dark-brown patina.
