The offered lot was originally acquired by Tony Duquette while visiting the Maharana of Udaipur.

Hutton Wilkinson, More is More, Abrams Publishers, 2009, p. 340 for an illustration of one of the armchairs in-situ.

Portions of lots 2240 -2246 were used for Tony Duquette's set design in the movie 'Lovely to Look At' (1952) and had multiple owners including actor James Coburn (1970s) and industrialist and art collector, Norton Simon and Jennifer Jones (1980s) and was bought back by Tony Duquette several times.
