Able Seaman Noble enlisted into the Clyde division RNVR on 6th October 1914, he was sent to Gallipoli in April 1915, he suffered a GSW to the head on 1st May 1915. He was wounded again on 13th July with a GSW to leg and chest, he was subsequently evacuated to 15 General Hospital at Alexandria on the 19th July, then invalided to England on the H.S.Letitia on 4th August 1915 and admitted to Haslar Naval Hospital on the 16th. He was discharged on the 12th October and returned to duty, with a "Hurt Certificate" issued to him. He was posted back to Blandford 1st Reserve Bn on 5th January 1916, then on the 13th April 1916 was admitted to Portland Naval Hospital. He was discharged as "Unserviceable" on 2nd May 1916, and then discharged on Medical Grounds on 6th May 1916. He was paid £8.10.00 War Gratuity on 26 February 1919, and was given a King's Certificate of Discharge issued on 27th April 1920.
