Four to Lieutenant Colonel J.P.Bliss, West India Regiment,

Ashanti Star 1896, unnamed as issued; East and West Africa 1887-1900, two bars, Sierra Leone 1898-99, 1897-98 (Capt & Adjt: J.P.Bliss, 2:W.I.Regt); 1914-15 Star, erased; British War and Victory Medal (Lt.Col.J.P.Bliss.), mounted as worn. With two silver cigarette cases, and a silver cigarette box, each with relevant descriptions, together with minor coins etc. The second bar now not attached to the first, otherwise toned very fine. (Lot)

Footnotes

Lieutenant Colonel John Plomer Bliss was born 21.11.1870; Second Lieutenant March 1892; Lieutenant 14.11.1893; Captain 8.6.1898; Adjutant 27.8.1898-26.8.1902, served in the Ashanti Expedition 1895-6, and then West Africa 1897-99 being employed in the Hinterland, and the Operations in Sierra Leone 1898-99, medal with two clasps.

His Medal Index Card states he served in German East Africa from 26th July 1916 and makes no mention of a Star having been awarded. His address was Up Park Camp, Cross Roads P.O., Jamaica.
