The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, O.B.E., 1st type, Military Division; Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, five bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, S.A.01, S.A.02 (Rev: J.T.Hales.); 1914 Star with Mons bar (Rev:J.T.Hales. A.C.D.); British War and Victory Medal with MID Oakleaf (Rev.J.T.Hales.); General Service 1918-62, one bar, Iraq (Rev.J.T.Hales.). Mounted as worn, with corresponding miniatures. Good very fine. The Reverend James Tooke Hales, was born on 7th September 1863, he was the son of the late Rev. George Hales, of Barningham, York. He was educated at Eton and Lichfield Theological College. Chaplain H.M. Forces since 1900. Served in France with 3rd Division, August 1914, remained with wounded on the retreat from Mons, and was taken into Germany and allowed to remain in men's camp at Sennelager, until February 1915; subsequently at Shoreham and Curragh Camps. Principal Chaplain with the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force 1920.
