The Royal Victorian Order, K.C.V.O., set of insignia, comprising neck badge and breast star, in gold, silver-gilt, silver and enamel, numbered (558); The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, O.B.E., Military Division, type 1; Coronation 1902, silver issue; Coronation 1911; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937; Coronation 1953. The medals court mounted as worn. With corresponding miniatures. Good very fine. (Lot)

Montague Charles Eliot, 8th Earl of St.Germans was born on 13.5.1870, he was the second son of the late Col.Hon C.G.C.Eliot. C.V.O.. He was educated at Charterhouse (Senior Scholar and Exhibitioner) and Exeter College (Classical Scholar) Oxford, B.A. Honours in Classics and Jurisprudence, called to the Bar, 1895 (Inner Temple); Director (St.James's Street Branch) of the Alliance Assurance Company; Groom in Waiting to King Edward VII, 1908-10; Gentleman Usher, 1901-08; Gentleman Usher to King George V, 1911-36; Groom of the Robes, 1920-36; Extra Groom-in-Waiting to the Queen 1952-60 (to King George V, 1924-36), (to King George VI, 1937-52); Lieutenant Commander R.N.V.R. 1914-19. He died 19.9.1960.
