A George III silver bannock rack

by Patrick Robertson, Edinburgh 1773
The rectangular base with reeded border issuing three rows of interlooping hooped divisions, ten in each row, with central stem and looped handle, resting on four bun feet, the base filled with wood, length 25cm.

Footnotes

Similar to a toast rack, Scottish bannock racks were made to accommodate round unlevened cakes of oatmeal or barleymeal. This example is similar to an example by the same maker in the National Museums of Scotland.
