A Scottish pearlware commemorative plate for George IV

Circa 1822, probably Portobello or Prestonpans
Of circular form moulded with a quarter length portrait of George IV in military regalia, the border moulded with thistles, crowns, ribbons and fleur de lys, painted in colours of yellow, blue, green, pink and red, 19cm diameter

This plate was made to commemorate the visit of George IV to Scotland in 1822, the first reigning sovereign to do so since 1688.
