Designed by George Gilbert Scott in 1865 and built during the 1870s, the Midland Grand at St. Pancras was the grandest of the great nineteenth-century railway hotels, becoming an enduring icon of Gothic revival architecture. Closed in its capacity as a hotel in 1935, it was recently restored and re-opened as the "St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel" in March, 2011.
