LONDON

PAYNE (ALBERT HENRY) Payne's Illustrated Plan of London, inset views of London from Hampstead Heath and the Houses of Parliament from the Thames, the proposed extension of the South Western Railway from Waterloo to London Bridge shown by a dotted line, window-mounted, 420 x 765mm., Dresden and Leipzig, [c.1846]--HORWOOD (RICHARD) [Pimlico], hand-coloured engraved map, extending from Chelsea Water Works to Tothill Fields, 550 x 495mm., 1795 (2)

Footnotes

Horwood's map shows some of the waterways now lost beneath the railway going into Victoria Station as well as the attractively laid out Churchill Gardens; these disappeared with Thomas Cubitt's redevelopment of the area in 1825, as can be seen on Payne's map of some 50 years later.
