A rare mid 19th century French gilt brass repeating 'Caryatid' carriage clock

The elaborate case with a handle formed by a pair of entwined mermaids over canted corners set with figures in niches, on an elaborate cast and pierced base, the repeat button set through the glass top panel and acting on a bell hidden by the shuttered rear door, the lever escapement set on an engraved platform with bi-metallic balance and polished steel fancy lever, the signed enamel Roman dial with blued steel moon hands 21cms (8.25ins) high.
