A unique commission-manufactured 24.1/2-inch coin-operated 'Polyphon Mikado' triple disc musical box console,
devised and built by Norman Vince, circa 1990,
the massive weight-driven motor with triple union bar drive to the three titled cast silvered bedplate movements set-breakfront, each with 'Sublime-Harmonie' combs on oak soundboards, in two-part cabinet, the broken pediment with central lyre above bobbin row and bobbin finials, quadruple scrolls over dental cornice, twin movement doors with very fine pierced and tooled sound frets, circular-cut glazed sections with gilt line and title decals, twin frieze panels, all flanked by turned tapered columns, on disc storage base with two fall-doors each fitted with disc chutes, fielded panel fronts with shaped pilasters and wide plinth base, on bun feet, with 8 sets of discs - 72in. (183cm) wide, the height 95in. (141cm), the depth 24.1/2in. (62cm)
