French, circa 1900,
the single-train clock with blued movement screws, cream enamel dial with Western Arabic numerals and painted floral swag detail, alarm setting disc to centre, the Lioret movement spindle exiting from middle centre actuated on alarm set, with period card diaphragm and celluloid horn, fitted within the gilt-finished cast spelter case in the high Louis XVI taste, top lid opening automatically once the movement is set in motion, rear door for movement access, with three Lioret cylinders and a winding key - 14in. (36cm) high
