In excavated condition, with tapering double-edged blade with central fuller over nearly its entire length to the point on both sides, the forte on one side cut with a row of four addorsed 'C' marks, the fuller on the other side indistinctly cut with the inscription 'NOMINE DOMINI', hilt comprising flat arched quillons widening at the tips, later leather-covered grip and pommel of cocked-hat form
