A Small Ottoman Kard
19th Century

With single-edged blade, the forte on each side decorated with a panel of gold-damascened foliage within gold and silver borders, the blade on one side with a gold-damascened panel containing a Turkish inscription, pinched-in brass basal mount, and mutton-fat jade hilt of ovoidal section flat along the back, in original wood-lined white-metal scabbard embossed and chased with flowering foliage along each side, the locket (top mount missing) on both sides with a small rose-cut ruby and turquoise beads in filigree settings (some stones missing), bud-shaped terminal, and foliate suspension loop
