A Japanese Swordcane, And Another Swordcane
The First Late 19th Century

The first with German blade of slender tapering square section stamped 'Solingen' on each side, and grip formed from sections of bamboo and bone, the latter carved with fish and shells in a sea, in original bamboo scabbard signed in Japanese characters and carved with a village landscape and waterfall; the second with 18th century small-sword blade of tapering hollow triangular section with etched decoration on both sides at the forte, wooden grip of circular section, and bamboo scabbard (grip and scabbard split) (2)
