17th/18th Century

With European tapering double-edged blade secured to the hilt by two flat riveted tapering straps extending along the forte to a shaped finial on both sides, characteristic iron hilt shaped over the hand and fore-arm, the former with applied brass mounts representing a human face, the latter decorated with applied brass mounts incised with concentric circles each centred on a dot, cusped brass borders decorated en suite, those on either side of the fore-arm with six brass fish-shaped jingles (five missing) each suspended from a ring, iron wrist-mount, and tubular grip
