A .44 Winchester 1866 Third Model Rim-Fire Repeating Rifled Carbine
No. 101509, Circa 1870

With round sighted russet barrel retained by two barrel bands and stamped with indistinct maker's details and patent dates in front of the folding back-sight, tubular magazine beneath, brass action and elevator-block, russet lever and saddle-ring, figured butt and fore-end, the former deeply stamped 'F.G.A' on the left side of the grip, curved brass butt-plate with hinged trap cover (cleaning rod missing), and silver escutcheon engraved with owner's crest (some wear and rust patination), Birmingham proof marks
