A Continental 15-Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol
By J.J. Behr Of Maastricht And Liège, Early 18th Century

With slightly swamped barrel engraved with an ovoidal band of foliage around the fore-sight and chiselled and engraved with foliage at the breech (pitted), grooved engraved tang, signed border engraved bevelled lock chiselled with foliage involving an eagle's head on the tail, later cock retained by the original screw chiselled as a grotesque mask, moulded figured full stock (butt split and with minor repair) carved in relief with foliage around the rear ramrod-pipe and behind the barrel tang, iron mounts chiselled with foliage and comprising pierced side-plate, crowned escutcheon with a profile portrait bust, spurred pommel with grotesque mask cap, and trigger-guard with foliate finial, faceted baluster ramrod-pipes, and ramrod with horn tip
