A Spanish 25-Bore Miquelet-Lock Pistol
Ripoll, Circa 1700

With two-stage barrel with raised rib along the forward section to the slightly flared muzzle, breech section with raised ribs en suite, plain tang, engraved characteristic lock, the steel stamped with maker's mark of Rovira (Neue Støckel 947) above an indistinct inscription 'Valada'(?), three-quarter stock (fore-end mostly replaced, damaged and poorly repaired around the lock) inlaid with iron panels (damaged and incomplete) pierced with foliage and secured by pins, iron mounts comprising faceted spurred pommel and trigger-guard, the latter with slender tang, and later horn-tipped ramrod (worn and rust patinated overall)
