A Cased Pair Of German Percussion Target Pistols Of Small Bore
By C.L. Schindler Sohn In Zella Bei Gotha, Mid-19th Century

With octagonal sighted barrels of distinctive etched twist damascus pattern each rifled with eight grooves and signed in full in silver against a blued ground along the top flat, plain breeches and tangs, the latter each incorporating a blued adjustable back-sight and numbered '1' and '2' respectively, locks each with safety-bolster, blued mounts comprising shaped pommels each with hinged scallop-shaped butt-trap cover, trigger-guards and trigger-plates, figured half-stocks carved with foliage in relief against a punched ground on each fore-end and with fluted butts, and in fine condition retaining virtually all their blued and dull grey finish: in original rosewood veneered case fitted and lined in purple leather (minor damage) with tooled and gilt line borders, and with accessories including powder-flask, nipple-wrench, powder-measure, ramrods and two bullet moulds for round and conical bullets respectively, the front edge of the lid with white-metal escutcheon engraved with owner's monogram between the date '1886', and with brass carrying handle of Chippendale form
