With russet sighted barrels, breeches with nipple-bolsters, grooved foliate engraved case-hardened tang, signed flat bevelled locks each engraved with an animal in a landscape on the tail, highly figured half-stock carved in low relief on the chequered fore-end, with foliage around the barrel tang, and with a ram's head to the rear of the chequered grip, cheek-piece, mounts cast and chased in relief, comprising trigger-guard with a dog's mask above a portrait bust in a garland against a punched ground on the bow and with finial formed as a winged term surmounted by foliage, butt-plate with a dragon along each side and with a lion-mask surmounted by a horned grotesque mask and foliage forming the tang, rear ramrod-pipe with a pan mask within a border of foliage, gold escutcheon engraved with owner's monogram, turned silver ramrod-pipes, sling loops, and later ramrod
