The first with octagonal barrel (worn, some pitting, sights replaced) rifled with seven square grooves, tang engraved with a slung bugle, border engraved flat bevelled lock with 'GR' crowned and signed across the tail, roller, figured full stock (some damage and bruising), regulation brass mounts (trigger-guard and patch-box cover missing), and later iron ramrod acting against a spring between the forward ramrod-pipes (stirrup ramrod missing), Tower private proof marks; the second with russet sighted barrel, plain tang, border engraved rounded lock stamped 'C&G' above an elephant and howdah mark, and 'Warranted' across the tail, figured three-quarter stock stamped with maker's name on one side of the butt and numbered '19' on both sides, brass mounts of regulation type (butt-plate incomplete), sling loop (the other missing), and iron ramrod (bent), Birmingham proof marks (2)
