A Rare English Dagger
Circa 1620-30

With tapering single-edged saw-back blade becoming stiff diamond section at the point and etched over most of its length on both sides with foliage terminating in an owl-like face, hilt comprising swelling quillons springing from a central quillon-block each with a small button at the tip, the outer surfaces encrusted on both sides with silver tendrils bearing flower-heads and involving human heads on the quillon-block, all within borders of beadwork, and fluted ivory grip (split) of tapering circular section (some wear and staining overall)
