A 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sabre, And A Continental Brass-Hilted Officer's Sabre
Both Late 18th/Early 19th Century

The first with curved fullered single-edged blade, regulation steel stirrup hilt, rounded pommel and back-piece in one, and ribbed leather-covered grip (worn, wire binding missing, pitted overall); the second with slightly curved fullered blade (rust patinated) double-edged towards the point and etched over each side of the forte with trophies of arms, profile Turk's heads, a crescent and a sun-in-splendour, stirrup hilt with ovoidal langets, back-piece with cast and chased lion-head pommel, and ribbed leather-covered grip bound with twisted copper wire (2)
