A North African (Moroccan) 22-Bore Flintlock Gun, And An Indian 25-Bore Flintlock Jezail
Both 19th Century

The first with sighted barrel retained by six incised brass barrel bands and engraved with foliage centered on an oval maker's stamp at the breech (rear sight missing), engraved tang, border engraved rounded lock from an English service musket with 'GR' crowned and 'Tower' across the tail, hardwood three-quarter stock inlaid with brass wire borders and designs of foliage on the 'fish-tail' butt and opposite the lock, the former with lightly figured butt-plate incised with pigment-filled dots within circles, and iron trigger-guard (partly loose) with pierced bow (ramrod missing); the second with three-stage twist sighted barrel damascened in silver with scrolling foliage at the flared octagonal muzzle, breech, and along the sighting flat between raised lines on the section beyond, rounded East India Company lock (acid cleaned) dated 1818 across the tail, hardwood three-quarter stock covered in brass along the fore-end, curved butt of circular section flaring towards the dark horn butt-plate, iron trigger-guard (partly loose), and sling loops (ramrod missing) (2)
