The First Malabar, The Second Sind, Both 19th Century
The first with plain barrel retained by four brass barrel bands, plain tang and flat lock (cock detached), hardwood full stock (incomplete in front of the lock) with characteristic hook-shaped butt, the latter with a brass roundel on each side, brass mounts comprising shaped side-plate with two heart-shaped piercings (one side-nail missing), butt mounts and trigger-plate with foliate finial, pierced trigger without guard, and no provision for a ramrod; the second with octagonal sighted barrel (pitted) slightly flared at the muzzle and retained by five shaped brass barrel bands, border engraved flat lock, hardwood stock (fore-end damaged and incomplete) with characteristic brass-mounted 'fish-tail' butt (one mount missing, one incomplete) with hinged circular butt-trap cover on one side, brass trigger-guard, sling loops (one missing), and iron ramrod (2)
