A Persian Circular Steel Dhal
Qajar, 19th Century

Of convex form, with four domed bosses and an applied brass border, embossed and chased centrally with a sun-in-splendour, the gold-damascened rays against a ground of chiselled foliage enriched with gold-damascened cartouches with gold-damascened arabesque borders, the outer border with ovoidal and circle panels of chiselled Persian verses retaining traces of silver damascening between borders of foliage and running arabesques
