An impressive Myochin forty-four plate nihojiro suji kabuto
By Myochin Ietsugu, active 1558-1591
The iron helmet constructed in a classic Muromachi akoda profile and lacquered black, all ridges but two in the front and back of the helmet covered with a gilt-copper fukurin and igaki at the base, each pierced with inoshishime, the top of the bowl pierced with a tehen ana and decorated with a four-stage gilt-copper and shakudo chrysanthemum tehen kanamono, the mabizashi applied with stenciled doe skin, silk cord, chrysanthemum rivets and banded at the edge with a shakudo "rope" fukurin, the five-lame shikoro ending in fukigaeshi decorated with shakudo fukurin and doe skin similar to the mabizashi and applied with shakudo heraldic crests of blossoms on stylized waves, a gold-lacquer disc maedate and mounts for wakidate on the sides, signed on the interior on the bowl Soshu ju Ietsugu
