Carved and assembled from wood and decorated with a sun and crescent moon in fundame lacquer against a glossy roiro ground, the long rectangular handle wrapped with bamboo grips
With a black lacquer fan box decorated on the lid with the crest of the Taira family, the underside of the lid inscribed in red lacquer []Somi ko[]ke[]koku sen and dated An'ei sannen rokugatsu (6 month 1774) and signed Hiranobu [] Yuki 21in (53cm) long; box 22 7/8in (58cm) long
