The wood signal fan constructed of wood and lacquered black and decorated on both sides with the Chinese character toku, the heraldic crest of a branch of the Matsudaira family in gold hiramakie, the edges banded with shakudo fukurin and hardware 23 7/8in (60.5cm) long
