A lacquer and tortoise shell cabinet

Late 19th century
Set on four cabriole feet and designed with six drawers, two sets of sliding doors, a pair of hinged doors, and two shelves, the top fitted with two roll flourishes, the entire surface painted with various scenes of birds and flowers in gold hiramakie and takamakie, the top surface with cranes, pine and plum trees, and distant hills, bordered by serpentine rain dragons in the clouds, the base decorated with stylized phoenix and floral roundels, punctuated by lightening geometric patterns, drawer interiors nashiji, hardware bronze 24 x 21 1/2 x 9 3/4in (60.9 x 54.5 x 24.6cm)
