Designed in iroe hiramakie and takamakie with a central reserve of three martial figures beneath a maple tree dressed in Japanese-style armor and courtiers robes, one studying a hand-scroll, one holding aloft a sacred jewel, while the third looks on with his hands resting on his sword hilt, all rendered in high-relief against a bright kinji ground, the border with celestial dragons against a black-lacquer ground sprinkled with hirame and cherry blossoms in mother-of-pearl and gold foil, the rim lacquered with floral reserves, underside nashiji
