by Koma Kansai, 19th century
Rectangular, with one shallow case and a second deeper case, the exterior designed with false joints giving the appearance of a four-case inro, all lacquered in iroe takamakie and hiramakie on a bright kinji ground with embellishments of aogai with shaped panels containing birds and flowers, Hina dolls and toys, and autumn grasses, signed Kansai; fitted with a gilt-metal ojime pierce carved with birds in flowering grasses 3 3/8in (7.6cm) long
