Designed as a wood storage box containing hair ornaments and accessories rendered in carved lacquer simulating shell, the box decorated with blossoming autumn plants in inlaid mother-of-pearl against a black lacquer ground, the underside of the cover sprinkled with gold flakes on a red-lacquer ground, signed on the bottom Shubi 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 x 7/8in (3.9 x 3 x 2.2cm)
