Two ivory netsuke
The first by Gyokusho; the second by Takamasa, late 19th century
The first carved as a young swordsman atop a large wood mallet decorated with the characters fuku'un, signed Gyokusho; the second carved as a priest bound to a tree stump painting a mouse with his foot where upon completion the mouse will come to life to chew the ropes and free the priest, signed Takamasa 1 3/4in (4.4cm); 2 1/8in (5.3cm) high
