The first carved as a coiled snake, the details stained dark and the eyes inlaid in dark horn, signed Tadakuni; the second carved as a stylized bat, its wings wrapped around its body in a playful gesture, the hair rendered in fine lines and the eyes inlaid in dark horn 1 1/8in (2.8cm); 1 1/2in (3.5cm) wide
