By Ozaki Kokusai (1835-1894), Shiba, Tokyo, late 19th century
Carved and pierced as as a 'wish-granting' scepter overlaid with a long stem of reishi fungus, a small figure of a bat to the top forming a natural himotoshi, the lower section with a circular medallion carved with the single character Koku, with stained accents,fitted with an ivory ring and brown braided silk cord
