Lloyd (2000), p.124, pls.195(a) and 196(a)

The inscription refers to King Frederick II of Prussia (1712-1786), popularly known as Frederick the Great. The present lot probably celebrates the Seven Years War (1756-1763) in which Great Britain and Prussia were in alliance against Saxony, France and Russia.
