PROVENANCE:
A private collection, Tel Aviv
"Indeed, all of Naton's abstract works make evident "the law of square forms", which applies to a verity of compositional rules defined in the different groups of works that make up his oeuvre. His abstract group of works, like those of the previous decade, may be described as variations on a theme. They involve the examination and development of compositions that build on the changing relations between squares and axes, on various strategies for dividing the composition and on a range of chromatic scales and different backgrounds. It is also interesting to note that even in the compositions that are not organized around an axis, the forms do not usually float in void: they are anchored to the surface, and sometimes seem to emanate from it."
