Roger Bannister - Signed Letter

An autograph letter signed by Bannister informing B.O.A. team manager of the end of his athletic career, address blindstamped on header, sent by Roger Bannister to his team manager Leslie Truelove explaining why he can no longer train and compete as an athlete: "I had intended writing to you to explain the decision that I had unfortunately been forced to take. I have in effect just taken six weeks off work and simply shall not have the time to devote to training in the future. A doctor's work just after he has qualified is very different from eveyone else's and it is just not possible to combine it with athletic training and competition. Hope you will explain this to other members of the Association who may be disappointed by the decision I have been forced to take", 5th September 1954
