Cancelled Olympics, Helsinki 1940

1940 Helsinki Olympics programme, stadium plan, preparations booklet and press bulletins, plus a plan of the 1936 Berlin Stadia

Footnotes

The 1940 Games were originally due to be held in Japan, then moved to Finland, but with the outbreak of World War II the games were suspended and did not finally take place, as also happened to the 1944 Games. In keeping with Olympic tradition though, their numbers remained allocated, so that the 1948 Olympiad resumed at No.XlV.

See illustration on preceding page.
